One of the critical building blocks of the Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau programme – Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) and Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP) is the comprehensive nature and high quality of training.
This regard, there are three mutually reinforcing training segments. The first segment involves Orientation and Personal Effectiveness Training, designed to stimulate mindset reorientation from seeking employment to being self-employed through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and personal responsibility. The Orientation and Personal Effectiveness Training (OPET) is a series of motivational, character building and self-confidence enhancement seminars aimed at imparting higher levels of personal and interpersonal effectiveness, self-leadership and people relations.
The second segment involves Vocational or Agricultural Skills Training (Life Skills), designed to impart practical skills as a basis for owning and running a business enterprise.
The third segment involves Entrepreneurship and Business Management Training, which is aimed at inculcating entrepreneurial skills. The Entrepreneurship and Business Management Training (EBMT) is a series of enlightenment and learning seminars aimed at imparting entrepreneurial attitudes and skills, enabling business start-up and inculcating basic abilities for business operations. This training gets the beneficiary ready to successfully start-up his/her own business enterprise.
Across the three phases of training, the key tool for standardization and quality assurance is the training manuals/guides. The training manual outlines the scope of the topics that should be covered and provides simple and clear tips for instruction and learning at every training session.
This document is the training guide for Entrepreneurship and Business Management Training (EBMT). It covers a wide range of topics including: fundamental principles of entrepreneurship, how to start a business, how to finance a business, how to market your product, how to document your business, how to communicate your business, how to cope with competition, how to grow your business etc.
I highly recommend this training guide to all STEP & YAGEP trainees. Beyond STEP and YAGEP, the topics and lessons are usefully refreshing for everyone that desires to become successful in business.
